Short description

On New Year's Day 2027, London executive Daniel Kovac discovers that an internal AI system has completed in hours work that normally takes a team days. It is imperfect, but useful enough to change the calculation. Over one continuous year, increasingly capable systems enter the lives of people making ordinary decisions about work, trust, judgment, power, and control. Their choices connect, and the consequences accumulate. 2027: A World Without People is an adult near-future speculative novel by Ivan Jankovic, with a techno-thriller spine and a world grounded in contemporary research. The Serbian edition was published by Vukotić Media in 2026. English-language publication details have not yet been announced.

Long description

London, January 1, 2027. Daniel Kovac begins the year with a report that would normally take four analysts several days. An internal artificial intelligence system has completed it overnight. The work contains mistakes. It is also useful enough that dismissing it no longer feels like a neutral choice.

That is the doorway into 2027: A World Without People, Ivan Jankovic's adult near-future speculative novel with a techno-thriller spine. The story moves through one continuous year, from January 1, 2027 to January 1, 2028, following interconnected lives as increasingly capable systems become part of ordinary decisions. Work, trust, personal judgment, institutional power, and human control are the five fault lines running through the fictional world.

The pressure comes from technology. The story belongs to people: what they find useful, what they come to depend on, and what they remain responsible for. Changes accumulate through choices that can seem reasonable in the moment. No single release or turning point explains the year for everyone living inside it.

The novel's technological and institutional setting is grounded in contemporary public research. That research establishes constraints for a plausible fictional world; it does not make the narrative a prediction. Inside 2027 is the separate nonfiction editorial companion, prepared for essays and research notes about the real questions behind the fiction.

The Serbian edition, 2027. Svet bez ljudi, was published by Vukotić Media in 2026. The English-language manuscript is complete; publication details have not yet been announced.
